Brown, George
(29 nov. 1818, Edimburgo, Escocia–9 may. 1880, Toronto, Ontario, Canadá).

Periodista y político canadiense. Inmigró a Nueva York en 1837 y en 1843 se trasladó a Toronto, donde fundó The Globe (1844), periódico político reformista. Como miembro de la asamblea canadiense (1857–65), abogó por la representación proporcional, la confederación de América del Norte británica, la adquisición de los Territorios Noroccidentales y la separación de la Iglesia y el estado. Más adelante fue dirigente del movimiento Clear Grits y en 1873 fue designado miembro del Senado de Canadá, aunque continuó administrando su influyente y popular periódico (más tarde The Globe and Mail).
